On 8–9 April, a delegation from the International Authorised Economic Operator (AEO) Association met with officials from the British International Freight Association (BIFA) in London.
The meeting addressed the acceleration of logistics flows between Türkiye and the UK, unrestricted customs regulations to facilitate the swift movement of goods within the supply chain, mutual recognition of AEO, the development of the Free Trade Agreement, and trust-based customs processes.
The meeting was attended by Mr Mehmet Altay Yegin, Chairman of our Association’s Board of Directors, along with observer member Mr Doğan Ekici, Director of Logistics Operations at SunExpress, and Mr Mevlüt Dişiaçık, Deputy Director of Customs at SunExpress Logistics. The British delegation was led by Steve Parker, General Manager of BIFA, and Pawel Jarza, Director of Policy and Compliance.
Furthermore, during the gift-exchange ceremony, our Chairman presented Mr Steve Parker with a plaque, as well as a personal gift: a special jersey bearing Atatürk’s words “Peace at Home, Peace in the World”, thereby expressing our hopes for the restoration of peace and harmony across the globe.
The delegation’s visits in London were not limited to industry meetings. On the second day of the programme, the association also paid a visit to Türkiye’s Consul General in London, Ambassador Assoc. Prof. Dr. Hasan Ulusoy, and Türkiye’s Commercial Counsellor in London, Ms Gözde İnaneri Bakıcı.
