On behalf of the Board of Directors of the Authorized Economic Operator (AEO) Association, we are visiting companies with AEOs on a regional basis within the scope of the 2024-2026 Strategic Plan. During our trip to Izmir, we were the guests of “Norm Fasteners” Import Manager Ceren Uybat at the company headquarters.

Norm Holding companies believe in the importance of technology and innovation, and in this direction, in addition to following technological developments, they integrate developing technologies into their workflows.

During my visit, I also had the opportunity to tour the company's factory with virtual reality glasses (VR) technology.

I learned that VR technology is used not only in Norm Fasteners but also in 6 other companies affiliated with Norm Holding. Within the Holding, VR technology is used in orientations of new employees as well as remote tours of production facilities for stakeholders, suppliers, and potential customers. The introduction of production lines to new employees and the information about how to use them are also conveyed with VR technology.

With VR technology, we can fully experience the feeling of being inside spaces and vehicles. In these 3D-based virtual reality VR areas, it is possible to experience the feeling of being there with different connection points, and even to move and do work. It is useful to know the content and usage details of such a fascinating technology. It seems obvious that VR technology will be a part of the reality of our lives very shortly.

The history of the system called Virtual Reality dates back to times that could be considered impossible for people. This development, which started in the 1930s by constructing the viewing experience of various film and photo screenings on a moving platform, is now accepted as the beginning of 3D- 9D cinema categories.

Similarly, different apparatus and mechanical systems were invented in the past years for the senses to communicate with the phenomenon being watched or created. Although VR glasses and adaptation tools have a certain hierarchy today, it seems that in time, it will be possible for our brain to communicate with other worlds with VR technology as a sixth sense organ in addition to the five sense organs.

The first studies on neuron-communication helmets began in the 1960s. These devices, which seem to be only popular in the gaming world today, were designed to have incredible functions in many different areas.

Today, the weight of virtual reality designs in the entertainment sector and the gaming community is of course noticeable. But the benefits of virtual reality are increasing in every area of ​​life. One of the lesser-known facts about the areas of use of virtual reality is that it is a key to maximum efficiency in almost every sector. It has become possible with the unlimited opportunity to try in a virtual reality environment instead of the cost of trying and producing something physically.

This situation seems to have made the use of virtual reality important, especially in biology and medical research. Now, it is possible to experience almost all experiments and medical training in a virtual reality environment.

The same applies to virtual tour projects. Thanks to environments that can be entered with different connection tools, people can visit a museum or historical artifact on the other side of the world from where they are sitting.

In light of the information we obtained about VR during the visit in question, the question "Can the field inspection of the facilities of AEO companies with more than one facility be carried out with VR glasses?" came to our mind.

In our opinion, we have reached an era where the facilities of AEO companies with AEO companies can be inspected with virtual reality glasses, registered with the ISO27001 quality document standards, which are mandatory among the application documents, directed by a Trade Inspector from the center and subject to the field inspection principles of the Guidance and Inspection Presidency, in these days when technology is rapidly advancing.

In this way, regardless of the weather conditions and the number of facilities, the user guided by the Trade Inspector will be able to easily visit all departments and warehouses of the facility and control the external borders of the facility.

It should not be forgotten that just as the AEO regulation created a simplification application beyond the era in foreign trade, the possibility of conducting field inspections with VR glasses will also take inspection personnel beyond the era.
